About
Dana Yaffee (she/her)
As a person who has encountered many challenges throughout life transitions, who has strived to be in a place where I am comfortable with who I am, I offer you a safe and compassionate environment where you can be your true authentic self.
My Background
I was born and raised in northeastern New York, in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. I attended George Washington University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. I received a Master of Science in Public Relations from American University, and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University.
I have worked in broadcast and cable television, state government and federal relations, and law. Through my education and work, I have had exposure to crisis communication and management, and this exposure has lead me to an interest in trauma-informed therapeutic treatment. I want to be able to help you and others who may be having difficulty in their lives as a result of unprocessed feelings, emotions, and traumas.
My Therapeutic Approach
I approach therapy with an integrative perspective that is trauma-informed. I use common factors from different therapeutic approaches in helping individuals navigate through their issues. This allows for flexibility in addressing your needs as well as sensitivity to developing our therapeutic alliance.
My training currently includes Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed parts work, Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based techniques.
